This Salvia has been renamed "Costa Rica" which is a truly wounderful country for exotic plants, but black and blue is still a very accurate name. These are very vigorous plants and can grow to a height of 2.5m. They look really good in a jungle border with a fertile and moist soil. A half hardy Salvia which may survive in a sheltered spot but best cut back and brought into a heated greenhouse or conservsatory for the winter.

  • Salvias will grow best in full sun and although drought tolerant they appreciate being watered regularly. Sharp drainage is essential and can be achieved by either growing them in pots or incorporating grit into the soil when planting. Regular applications of a  balanced feed is benificial during the growing season. Tender Salvias will need protection over winter and are best brought into a heated greenhouse or conservatory.

    Supplied in a 9cm pot.
